Qualification / Experience
To work in banking you must possess high levels of intellect, a lot of resilience and a global outlook. Strong numerical skills are a must as well as attention to detail and initiative. Working in Banking can be fast paced so being able to work in a high pressure environment is also a must.

GCSE’s - At least 5 A* - C grades – a high maths grade is essential

A Level’s - At Least 3 A – C grades – maths essential and IT and Economics desirable

Degree - A degree in maths or business related subject is essential

To work in the high level roles in banking you will need further qualifications and undertake exams carried out by a professional body. To become a Chartered Banker you will have to undertake exams to receive a Diploma. You can also undertake exams held by other bodies including;

Working in banking and investment requires experience where you can prove that you have used strong mathematical skills. Experience that also showcases strategic and logical thinking is also essential for any banking and investment role.

To ensure you stand out from the crowd when looking for an entry level role you can complete internships. An internship gives you real hands on experience, demonstrating that you're able to cope in a pressurised environment. Some internships even turn into permanent roles if you really impress.
