Qualification / Experience
To work in Healthcare you will need to be organised, enjoy hands on work and work well under pressure. Good communication skills are also key to any role within healthcare as you will need to liaise with many different people.

GCSE’s – with good GCSE grades and work experience placements you will be able to work in an administration or typist role. You will also need basic IT skills as work will be office based. If you are looking to go into the top roles within healthcare you will need to have top GCSE grades particularly in science.

A Level’s – with good A Level results or NVQ level 3 equivalent you can work in a junior role in administration, human resources or finance within the healthcare sector. If you’re looking to get into a top role within healthcare you will require extremely high A level grades to be able to study medicine further.

Degree – There are a wide range of graduate roles that you can enter into in healthcare. There are graduate management training schemes available in human resources, finance and general management, but you can also move into an NHS management role without being on one of these schemes.

Volunteering is a great way gaining experience in high pressure situations. By volunteering with St. Johns Ambulance or The Red Cross you can gain hands on first aid experience which is a great way of showing future employers that you have an interest in working in the sector.

Top roles within healthcare will require further training and specialist qualifications. Candidates will have to have excellent GCSE, A Level and degree grades to prove that they have the academic capabilities to progress to the top roles within healthcare.
